iPad vs Tablet vs Kindle

If one yearns back to the days of ancient computing, the recent development of powerful hand-held devices that boast inclusive working platform might be stupefying. Now as nostalgia sets in, we can only think back to that day when late Steve Jobs, the Apple honcho, first unveiled the groundbreaking development of iPad. With that, the inevitable was imminent – our usual habit of general computing and web browsing went through metamorphosis thereby giving birth to a new dimension to basic computing. Apart from witnessing an intuitive experience on a miniature level, which wasn’t necessarily seen before its time, one thing that shocked everyone was its highly competitive $500 starting price point, much lesser than what was anticipated. Even today, it seems that many companies strive to achieve that price figure– thus, bringing us into the constantly shifting price wars.

Now as I stumble upon these burgeoning tablet developments, I foresee a constant threat imparted upon the laptop and smart phone manufacturers, and most significantly to the titans itself – the expediency of the Apple’s iPad is now in jeopardy. Apparently that’s the key reason for major smart phone and laptop manufacturing companies like Samsung, Motorola, HP, Acer, Toshiba etc to venture into the tablet business. One reason for most of these tabs to groom and transcend iPad and other contemporary devices is the easy working platform offered by the Android OS. Development and deployment of app has become a walk in the park for aspiring mobile app developers – the key reason why android tablets has mushroomed over the past few years.

Listbingo - A User's Perspective

I won’t say I had an in-depth knowledge about Joomla but I'm sure I had heard of it before. My knowledge about Joomla had been limited and I had only known it as an open source content management system and its popularity among developers who use it for creating sites within minutes, o-k-a-y maybe an hour or less. Previously, my relationship with Joomla had started with an installation of Joomla version 1.7 and I had tried my hands on it lightly but it had sadly ended there.

I was looking for a classified extension in Joomla and was aware of the few competitors like Listbingo, Ads Manager, DJ Classifieds etc. I gave Ads Manager the first preference as it was the old cat and was also compatible with Joomla 1.7. The extension is very well developed and easy to use but didn't quite live up to my requirement; therefore, as per my friend's suggestion I downloaded Listbingo. It’s been a couple of weeks since I started playing around with Listbingo 1.4. Listbingo 1.4 is one of the best Gobingoo products dedicated for classifieds. Gobingoo is a successful player at understanding the sentiments of people wanting to make money through online classifieds and the best part being, you don’t have to be an expert. Once the Joomla 1.5 and Listbingo 1.4 installation is slightly tweaked you will have your classified site ready to upload and run. I had never been introduced to the lucrative world of classifieds online using Joomla extensions. Looking back; I was a stranger for sure.

Once you’ve Joomla 1.5 installed on your site you may now lay your hands with Listbingo 1.4. However, it should be remembered that, as of now, Listbingo 1.4 is only compatible with Joomla 1.5. Installation of Listbingo 1.4 is a piece of cake and in a couple of seconds (I’m not kidding here) you will have your own Listbingo control panel.

Listbingo 1.4 provides administrators with all the fabulous tools required for building a classified site. It lets your users view ads or post them based on different categories. The registered users will have their own profile and they can view the history of their ads. To enhance the looks and functionality of the classified sites, you can make use of various templates and addons ranging from Captcha - which authenticates your user to be human, Compare - enables your web visitors to compare between multiple ads posted, Jslider – enhances the default gallery of Listbingo, and many more.

The entire basic feature required for a classified site can be easily achieved by the means of the free addons that comes along with the installation. However, if you intend to install added dynamism and features to your site then you may try the premium products as per your need, which is also quite reasonable, I suppose. I like the policy here, “Buy only the things that you require”
